On Jan. 30 Shenyang Machine Tool Group was awarded an economic prize of Ascherleben, a city in the east of Germany for Shenyang Machine Tool’s successful operation after purchasing SCHIESS AG and making great contribution to economic development of the city. It was the first time in Germany for a city's important prize to be awarded to an overseas enterprise. Ascherleben is a small town with a population of 250,000, and it is of industrial importance in Germany with over 140 years' history, where SCHIESS AG is. The heavy and large-sized numerically controlled machines manufactured by SCHIESS AG were internationally famous for their brand, and they are applicable to such basic industries as aviation and aerospace, energy sources and equipment, ship manufacture, and general-purpose equipment. In a lot of large-sized manufacturing enterprises in China there are equipment made by SCHIESS AG. On Aug. 1, 2004 SCHIESS AG was suspended by several reasons. 3 months later Shenyang Machine Tool Group overcame 7 major companies of solid strength and won the first place in the purchase.
At present there are about 200 employees in NEW SCHIESS AG, which is basically at the level before bankruptcy. Both social welfare and security for the 200 employees follow Germany standards. With the aid of overall market advantages of Shenyang Machine Tool Group, the brand effect of NEW SCHIESS AG came back quickly after being blended with the culture, management, and concept of Shenyang Machine Tool. By the end of 2005 NEW SCHIESS AG signed contracts for 37 Eurodollar orders. That Shenyang Machine Tool Group successfully purchased and operates SCHIESS AG was described as “a Chinese huge dragon saving the German company from difficult positions” by such German media as German TV Station II ".
